Installation procedure:

    

      

     1. The balun requires a pair of cores in the Cable to send the video down and there will be a balun at each end of the cable, therefore two baluns are required.

     2. Run in your Cable between camera and the rest of your CCTV equipment.

     3. Strip the Cable jacket with proper length and identify the various pairs in the Cable.

     4. Open the plastic cover each of Balun and IDC connector.

     5. Insert the wire into the slot behind the IDC terminal until the wire is held in the slot. When you insert the wire, please shake the wire slightly for easy insertion.

     6. Ensure that the wires are right positioned and secure in the IDC slots. For the Balun to work correctly you must use paired cores and observe the correct polarity at both ends.

 

IDC Connector	UTP Cable
TIP	Solid Color Cable, ex. blue
RING	Two Color/Striped Cable, ex. blue & White
G	No Connection

 

     7. Push down the plastic cover until you hear a “click” to stick the wires and complete the installation.

     8. Close the cover of Balun.

     

Troubleshooting

No Picture

         1. Camera is not working or not feeding power to camera. Please make sure the camera is working normally.

         2. Wrong wire colors have been used, please re-check the connection.

         3. Polarity incorrect with one balun being wired opposite to the other one, please re-wire.

         4. The cable is damaged or there is a short or open circuit on the wire, please replace the wire.

 

Poor Picture

         1. Camera is not working properly. Please make sure the camera is working normally and sending good quality picture.

         2. Wrong wire colors have been used, please re-check the connection.

         3. Polarity incorrect with one balun being wired opposite to the other one, please re-wire.

         4. Cable runs too long. The picture will deteriorate if the Cat 5 cable run too long. 2,300 feet is the maximum distance for a passive balun to be functioned with adjustments to DVR and monitor. However, a maximum distance 650 feet is recommended for using with equipment such as DVRs, multiplexers and quads.
